Career
Where I am
After a few years in the southern state of North Carolina, I’ve settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota with Target Corporation as an emerging media executive within EDGE Interactive supporting the Interactive Marketing team and other innovations. Under the direction of Bob Ulrich, Target Corporation has experienced tremendous growth and today attracts the best of breed team member from around the country. As a newly minted Target brand manager, agog with the history of J.L. Hudson’s as a native Detroiter, I parnter with teams throughout the organization to delight our guests deliver on a goal to become the Best Company Ever.
In August 2006, I entered the Executive MBA program at Syracuse University. In addition to studying for my MBA, I obtained my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in January 2007. I consider myself well read and I stay abreast of the latest trends in my industry.
Where I’ve been
In Charlotte, North Carolina I was employed as an Applications Manager with a private loan investment firm. The company purchases distressed loans and collects on those assets in compliance within the guidelines of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I supported the company through the Management Information Systems department by working on a myriad of projects. Most often I managed departmental projects that involve combining the skills of both the network support and application development groups. The impact of these projects usually affect several departments throughout the company. I frequently served as a discovery agent to understand each departments goals and communicate to the technical team. I served as an intermediary to increase communication and enhance synergies between departments.
Within the department I was called on to assist in the decision making on many broad areas: financial budgeting, vendor management, contract management, procurement, network maintenance, software development, change management, business analysis, Sarbanes-Oxley & Gramm Leach Bliley Act regulatory compliance issues, IT auditing, disaster recovery/ business continuity and critical thinking on a variety of business and technical related issues.
My experiences have allowed me to assist companies with search engine marketing campaigns, web development projects and general consulting in the Internet marketing space. With the assistance of my business partner, we built a company during a time when technology companies were having a tough time. Funding was at an all-time low and gaining new customers was difficult. Through it all, I’ve learned how to endure during the down years and also how to build a client base through consistently delivering quality solutions that add value. Managing people, client relationships and projects during this time was intriguing. My business was my family’s livelihood which put an ever present goal to succeed day-in and day-out.
Over the years I’ve had training in supply chain management, business banking, investing, leading cross-cultural teams, interviewing, advertising, marketing, organizational process consultation and a myriad of technologies. The most beneficial training has always been my experiences with implementing solutions directly with clients whom have a business need. At the end of any day, results are measured by the value produced to my client.
