Blue Ocean Strategy

Very interesting read. This book has made the concept on innovation strategies simple and more defined. Blue Ocean Strategy takes the concept of building new ideas, innovations and/or product strategies in another direction. The author, W. Chan Kim, speaks to a concept called value innovation as one that seeks to create new markets instead of battling with competition via a red “bloody” ocean.

The strategies in the book can be accomplished in today’s business environment, but it takes a special sort of company to implement them. Innovative companies that have the concept of entrepreneurship ingrained in their culture have a better chance at managing the creation of new blue oceans. Additional review here.

I’ve always been interested in strategy development and sat in on the brink of a blue ocean concept during the beginning of the search engine marketing boom. As a continue to make moves in my career, I hope to be instrumental in strategy development.
