HBS Business Fundamentals: Life of Learning
Harvard Business School has published a brilliant series on basic business fundamentals for managers. The material covered in the volume includes cases, notes, articles and learning objectives to give a very broad view of business. I’ve found the volume to be great. It has provided a basis for learning in areas where I have experience but no formal training. Many of the topics are condensed to give the reader the most pertinent information quickly and efficiently.
I’ve always enjoyed engaging in personal development by studying up on areas that either sharpen my current skills or to learn more in the broad array of business topics. A life of learning is a rewarding one.
The volume includes the following:
Reading Financial Reports- Understanding Costs
- Negotiation
- IT for Managers
- Finance for Managers
- Understanding Consumer Behavior
- Sales Management
- Marketing Strategy
- Financing Entrepreneurial Ventures
- Competitive Strategy
- New Product Development
- Managing Human Resources
You can find the series at HBS Online. If you are interested in building your business knowledge at the 30,000 foot level this series is for you. It’s a great addition to any managers library as well as a supplement to the MBA student experience.
