7am, Sunday, What am I doing?
It’s 7am, on a Sunday and I am up working on a case in Operations Management for my executive MBA program at Syracuse University. This is one of my scheduled times to study which keeps me disciplined to stay on top of the rigorous coursework from the program. Many have asked, Nick how do you do it? Managing 10 hour days at work, an active two-year old boy, studying and obtaining my PMP, staying connected with family/friends/associates, reading at least one book a month for personal growth (two most times), studying for an executive MBA program, working out twice a week, and growing a marriage???
There are three major sources of strength that I rely on.
God: He is my source of strength, power, faith and devotion toward a fruitful life. I can focus on the seemingly impossible knowing that he is doing much more for everyone in this world. Nothing in life comes without struggle, but your attitude toward life will propel you further or be a continual roadblock. I choose to be focused and work hard toward my ever changing goals through God’s helping hand.
My wife: Stephanie handles many of the things that keep our families life going and me balanced. Having a very active and smart two-year boy makes that task very difficult but Steph sticks it out and maintains life for the family. If I had to do it alone I could accomplish some things, but not nearly as much as I can now. My success thus far in this program would not be possible without my wife. I love you and couldn’t do it without you.
My inner drive: I’m driven by the little pleasures of life. Enjoying a bright shiny day, the colors of the trees and flowers. I enjoy quiet time to think, paint, draw, pray. I like to see others around me excel so I provide a model for success by trying to be successful in my own right. I see everyday as an opportunity for growth, change and prosperity.
What are you doing at 7am, Sunday mornings? What could you be doing to change your life?
