London, England Residency with iMBA Program
On May 20, 2007 I traveled to London, England to begin a week long limited residency with several other iMBA students. There were two courses available, both of which I am currently enrolled; Designing High Performance Organizations (Dr. Dennis Gillen) and Perspectives on Global Business (Dr. Ravi Dharwadkar). London was one of four limited international residencies offered this year in the iMBA program at the Whitman SOM at Syracuse University. Syracuse University has a wonderful building in London; the Faraday House where students take courses in the number one financial district in the world. The other include Bermuda, South Africa and France. During the week we had speakers from Goldman Sachs, PepsiCo Europe, and Lloyd’s. We discussed topics from the rise of India/China, outlook for multinational companies, trends in struggling countries, M. Porter’s lastest theories, to our personal global travels, synergies in high performance companies, effects of information technology on Ireland, strategy vs. organization design concepts.
In my next briefing I’ll include more information about my thoughts on some of the topics. For now enjoy my photos from the trip and experience a taste of London.
