Buick and Shaq Ad, Fail

I'm fascinated by advertising. Some are well executed and others like this Buick ad could do more harm than good.

Without even taking a closer look at this ad, most people that are familiar with basketball know Shaq. You also should know or use your common sense to figure that Shaq is not driving around in a little Buick. I love to see big men in tiny little cars by the way...just amazing. Taking a closer look at this ad, Shaq's knees are halfway up the steering wheel. His head is at the top of the interior roof and he simply looks uncomfortable. I'd love to see him jump into and out of this car in the ad as a follow up.

Building trust in your brand is important. Buick fails at both convincing the consumer that the vehicle is "large" enough to hold Shaq and degrades the trust of the consumer along the way. Personally the biggest selling points for the vehicle is MPG and technology. Both of which are not the highlights with Shaq as the lead celebrity.

I've seen better from GM and will look for improvements in the future.
